SNAPCHAT VIDEO GROWTH

As of April, Snapchat users combined now watch more than 10 billion videos every day.

The latest figure, confirmed by the social media platform last month, marks a steady increase in the app's video content.

It is up from 6 billion in November 2015, to 8 billion in February this year.

The growth has been driven by the platform's 'Story' feature, where users can post their content.

The data includes Snapchat users who access their accounts at least once a month.

In just the last year, it shows that the 25-34 group has grown from 11.3 million to 15.8 million users.

A similar trend has been seen in older demographics as well.

From 2016 to 2020, users aged 35-44 are expected to jump from 4.8 million to 7.9 million.

Even Snapchat users age 45-54 will grow, reaching an estimated 4 million users in the next four years.

For some time, a younger user-base has dominated the app’s usage.

Those between the ages of 18 and 24 have grown startlingly since 2014, with 20 million users this year.

But, this is expected to level out in comparison to an older age group.

It was recently revealed that Snapchat has overtaken Twitter in popularity, following in the footsteps of Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

Roughly 150 million people are now using Snapchat every day, making it the leading choice between the two platforms.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the messaging app has surpassed Twitter by nearly 15 million daily users.

The figures come from sources familiar with the matter, according to Bloomberg, though both Snapchat and Twitter have declined to comment.

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE ON SNAPCHAT

To make sure users do not miss a story from their favourite channel, the firm has added a feature that lets them subscribe.

Simply tap-and-hold one of the vibrant circles and that publisher will always appear in your Recent Stories from accounts you have added.

At just four years old, Snapchat has quickly risen to success, with frequent updates that make its service a game-like platform, drawing in a large number of young users.

Just since December, Snapchat has seen a massive spike in usage – then, the app had only 110 million daily users, Bloomberg reports.

Compared with the 150 million people that are now snapping on a daily basis, Twitter’s numbers are struggling to keep up.

According to the report, Twitter has 136 million daily users.

‘Twitter has 310 monthly active users, according to its most recent earnings report,’ Bloomberg writes.

‘The company doesn’t disclose how many of those people check in daily, but in the third quarter, it said about 44 percent of monthly users are active each day in the service’s top 20 markers.’

At Recode’s recent technology conference, the report quotes Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey as saying that Snapchat’s messaging service is ‘very modern,’ and that the firm is working to fix the ‘confusing and alienating’ aspects of Twitter.

After Twitter was first founded in 2006, it became the largest social network after Facebook.

But, it has since been passed by Facebook’s other apps, including Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, the report notes.

Snapchat, on the other hand, has continually been growing.

Its newer features like face-swap and live-filters encourage more users to continue snapping.

Earlier this month, Snapchat unveiled a new set of stickers, including llamas, emoting pineapples, and more.

The latest update allows you to use them in snaps in the same way as emojis.

In April, it was revealed that users are watching more than 10 billion videos every day on the app.

More than a third of users create content using the app's 'Stories' feature, which includes videos, as part of a move towards content creation, and not just consumption.

The firm confirmed it was up from 6 billion in November 2015, to 8 billion in February this year.
